California’s State Senate district 19 is another example of County elections officials posting more up to date results than are available from the Secretary of State. Democratic candidate Hannah Beth Jackson led Tony Strickland in the early counts, but… Continue Reading

As noted before, this election is over and the Yes side has won. But the formality of counting goes on. Friday was a scheduled reporting day for many counties. Between votes newly reported to the Secretary of State, and votes posted on county websites but not yet reported to the state, we counted 219,248 more… Continue Reading

New votes from Nevada County: 61.2% Yes

Wednesday’s 10am vote update contained little news. There was no update to the uncounted ballots report, and only one county, Nevada County, reported any new ballots counted. Of the 2,049 new ballots counted in Nevada County, 11.4 percent were blank on the Prop 11 question. Of the rest, 61.2 percent voted yes and 38.8 percent… Continue Reading

Doug Johnson on Prop 11 Impact

Doug Johnson discusses the impact of Prop 11 in Ryan Orr’s article in the Victorville Daily Press. Johnson hypothesizes that congressional districts could be added to the redistricting committee’s power, and that Democrats may have to rethink general strategies. “If the margin holds up, then they will lose control of their own district,” said Doug… Continue Reading
