The Rose Institute Appoints Sue O’Bannon ’84 to its Board of Governors
Claremont, CA — The Rose Institute of State and Local Government at Claremont McKenna College (CMC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Sue O’Bannon, CMC ’84, to the Board of Governors. This selection recognizes O’Bannon’s exceptional depth of knowledge in finance and real estate.
“I am honored to join the Board of Governors at the Rose Institute,” said O’Bannon. “I believe in the Institute’s mission––to cultivate the next generation of leaders in state and local government––and look forward to contributing my insights to support its research on housing public policy and economics.”
Serving as chief financial officer at Trammell Crow Residential (TCR) since 2004, O’Bannon exhibits exemplary leadership and strategic acumen in her roles, overseeing the firm’s debt and equity financing for all new developments in the western United States. Prior to her work at TCR, O’Bannon was vice president of the National Accounts group at Bank of the West (2000-2005), where she originated and managed loans for commercial projects. O’Bannon began her career at Citigroup (1989-1998) in the Commercial Real Estate Group, establishing herself as a respected figure in the industry upon departing as vice president.
O’Bannon graduated from Claremont McKenna College with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. While at CMC, she worked as a student researcher at the Rose Institute. Her postgraduate education includes an MBA in Finance and Real Estate from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
Ken Miller, director of the Rose Institute, stated: “Sue’s remarkable accomplishments and knowledge of fiscal policy and real estate align with the Rose Institute’s research objectives. She will bring valuable insights to our board, students, and faculty researchers through her wealth of professional and academic experience in the financial sector.”
O’Bannon resides in San Mateo, California, and is the proud mother of two children. Ryan, 27, lives in San Francisco and works for Google, and Sean, 25, lives in Austin and is co-founder of ReMatter.
The Rose Institute’s Board of Governors provides strategic advice to the Institute and works closely with its faculty and students. The Board includes government officials, consultants, election lawyers, business leaders, and journalists.
