Dr. Pitney on Mudslinging in CA State Senate GOP Campaigns

The race likely will boil down to matters of style and character as each candidate struggles to get voters’ attention and support,’ said Jack Pitney, a government professor at Claremont McKenna College. ‘When you have candidates who are essentially the same on the issues, they have to resort to such tactics to distinguish themselves,’ he said. ‘It’s hard in a race for the Legislature because most Californians are only vaguely aware of the state Senate to begin with.’
