Updated Population Growth Viewer Now Live

The Rose Institute is pleased to announce an update to its interactive map application for California population growth. In addition to viewing raw population change at the Census block group level, users can now see how California has grown at both the county and congressional district levels–both percentage changes and raw changes.

As expected, the largest increases in population at the congressional district level were in Riverside County and the High Desert. This roughly corresponds to the 25th, 44th, and 45th districts, currently represented by Buck McKeon (R), Ken Calvert (R), and Mary Bono Mack (R), respectively. On the other side of the coin, the 31st, 33rd, and 47th districts were the only congressional districts to actually lose population. These districts are currently held by Xavier Becerra (D), Karen Bass (D), and Loretta Sanchez (D), respectively.
