Rose Institute Fellow Douglas Johnson was quoted in a KPBS radio article discussing the possible consequences of Governor Jerry Brown’s proposed elimination of redevelopment agencies. The article was published on January 11th and is titled “Brown’s Budget Plan Threatens Redevelopment.”
In the article, Johnson says that development projects already contracted out are not in danger, but those still in planning stages are. He is quoted saying, “this definitely threatens all that San Diego is currently looking at doing with redevelopment…It will take time to wind down current projects, but it could be a very quick and painful death to all not yet signed projects, if the governor’s plans go forward as he’s currently outlining them.”
