Rose Institute Board Elevates Two to Vice Chair Roles
Alumnae Gonzalez ’85 P’14, Witt ’00 Deliver Keen Experience and Policy Insights
The Board of Governors of the Rose Institute of State and Local Government at Claremont McKenna College (CMC) has appointed Deborah Gonzalez ’85 P’14, and Jessica Witt ’00 to the position of vice-chairs.
Gonzalez is the Vice President of Government Affairs and Chief Data Officer at the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC). Prior to her work with PPIC, she served 26 years as a key staff member in the California Legislature. After graduating from Claremont McKenna in 1985, she earned her law degree from McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific.
Witt works as the Director of Government and Community Relations for the County of Orange. During her final undergraduate year, she served as a student manager for the Rose Institute, an honored and storied position within the Institute. She is an innovative government relations professional and has experience with local, federal, and state levels of government.
“When the board voted to make Deborah and Jessica vice chairs back in April, we did so with the knowledge that both will bring to the role a particular passion for crafting public policy and building responsible leaders,” said Ryder Todd Smith ’96, the chair of the Rose Institute’s Board of Governors. “With Deborah’s long history in the state capital and Jessica’s wealth of experience with both the Rose Institute and the County of Orange, they will bring special insight to the students, staff, and me as chair of the board. I am grateful for their continued service to the CMC community.”
