A December 12th article at the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin quoted Rose Institute Fellow Douglas Johnson discussing the upcoming March 3rd General Election in Claremont. The article is titled “Claremont election race could have 11 candidates.”
Johnson is quoted as saying, “eleven is a big group…It definitely makes it hard to stand out when presenting a message to voters.” Johnson also notes that “the large number of candidates makes it harder for a candidate with general appeal to win.” He says, “it’s so hard to get a message out either through a regular campaign or debate. People who have a core basis of support are going to do better.”
