Battleground Pennsylvania: The 2022 Election

Pennsylvania’s 2022 elections are some of the most important in the country.  Republicans and Democrats are fighting for the U.S. Senate majority, control of the nation’s fifth-largest state, and influence over the electoral conditions for a key presidential battleground in 2024.

This CMC-Rose Institute Poll presents pre-election preferences in Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate and gubernatorial races, as well as related topics.  It is based on interviews with a representative sample of 850 Pennsylvania likely voters, conducted online by YouGov between October 11-26, 2022.

Red vs. Blue States: Competing Visions for 2022 and 2024

The governors of the nation’s four largest states, California, Texas, Florida, and New York, face voters in 2022.

Using new survey data, this report highlights four main findings:

  1. The governors of all four states have positioned themselves to win reelection in 2022…
  2. The governors are on track to win reelection even though a large share of their constituents are dissatisfied…
  3. Many residents of these states are considering moving elsewhere…
  4. After their expected elections, at least two of these governors–DeSantis and Newsom–are positioned to carry their states’ policy visions into a national competition for the presidency.
