Professor Pitney’s influence recently extended to across the Pacific when he was quoted at the Malaysia Star about Sarah Palin’s affect on voters. He makes the case that Sarah Palin has brought the enthusiasm of Republican voters this year up to the level that the Democrats have been experiencing:
 “She has single-handedly closed the enthusiasm gap between Republicans and Democrats,” said John Pitney, a political analyst at Claremont McKenna College in California. “Republicans are just as pumped as Democrats now and that can make a difference.”
