An interesting situation is developing as more Democrats and Democratic leaning organizations establish their opinion on the California Redistricting Reform Initiative known as the “Voters First!” initiative. While the Democratic Party of California came out against it, prominent Democrats including Gray Davis, Bill Bogaard (Mayor of of Pasadena), Los Angeles City Controller Laura Chick, as well as Democratic-leaning groups such as the ACLU of Southern California, California Democratic Council, as well as the Democratic Clubs of North, West, and Central Orange County.
If more Democrats and Democratic-leaning groups come out in support of the initiative the potential exists for battle inside the party over the issue, or at least for mixed messages to reach voters.
