Pomona – Political

The City of Pomona has a council-manager form of government where the City Council serves as the City’s legislative body, establishing policy, passing ordinances, and voting appropriations. The Mayor is elected at-large every four years to serve as the presiding officer of the City Council. The six members of Pomona’s City Council are elected to over-lapping four-year terms. Each member is elected by and represents the district in which he or she lives. Every eight months, the City Council selects one of its members (excluding the Mayor) to serve as Vice-Mayor.
