Rose’s Johnson cited on redistricting in Altadena

Rose Institute Fellow Doug Johnson was cited in a June 1st article in the Altadena Patch discussing Altadena Assemblyman Anthony Portantino and his plans to run for Congress in 2012. Titled “Portantino Fundraising for 2012 Congressional Run, But in Which Districit,” and describes how without the new congressional boundaries finalized, Portantino cannot be sure which district he will even be running in.

In the article, Johnson says that the 26th district, which Portantino has said he would like to run in, will probably see some of the biggest changes in the whole state.” He says, “as currently constituted, the 26th features a series of disconnected foothill areas that cannot be crossed without leaving the district multiple times” and suggests that the “29th district, represented by Schiff; the 32nd District, represented by Rep. Judy Chu, D-El Monte; or the 25th District, represented by Rep. Buck McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, could all be possibilities.”
