Nevada Overview

Redistricting Process: Article IV, Section 5 of the Nevada Constitution gives control of redistricting to the legislature, subject to the governor’s veto. The Joint Standing Rules of the Legislature stipulate that the Committee of Government Affairs in the Senate and the Committee on Elections, Procedures, and Ethics in the House take up redistricting legislation, respectively. Moreover, these rules direct the committees to consider compactness and community boundaries, as well as comply with the Voting Rights Act.
