Doug Johnson on New Inland Empire Democratic Voters

Doug Johnson discusses San Bernardino County’s large increase in registered Democratic voters in the Victorville Daily Press’s article:

“New registrants are always question marks, especially when it comes to turnout,” said Doug Johnson, a fellow at the Rose Institute for State and Local Government, in Claremont. “The question is, are they motivated and they actively went out and registered because they’re inspired, or did some guy grab them at a table as they walked by and they have no intention of actually voting?”

Johnson said the swing is a particular surprise “in the Republican bastion of the Inland Empire.”
